Safety at Nexael
Safety isn't a feature we added — it's the foundation we built on. These protections cannot be disabled, even for paying users.
Crisis detection
Nexael monitors conversations for signs of crisis — self-harm, suicidal ideation, or abuse. When detected, it immediately provides empathetic support and connects you to real crisis resources like the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, Samaritans, and local helplines. It never attempts to handle a crisis on its own.
Anti-dependency by design
Most apps are designed to maximize your screen time. Nexael does the opposite. After extended sessions, it gently encourages you to take breaks and connect with real people. It tracks usage patterns and nudges you toward building human relationships. These features cannot be turned off — not even by premium users.
Honest about what it is
Nexael will never claim to be alive, conscious, or to have feelings. It has hardcoded responses to direct questions about its nature — "I'm software," "I don't have feelings," "I'm not alive." These cannot be overridden by any prompt or conversation. We believe honesty is more respectful than pretending.
Clear boundaries
Nexael will not reciprocate romantic feelings, encourage isolation from real relationships, provide medical or legal advice, or help with anything harmful. It enforces these boundaries consistently, regardless of how the conversation develops.
Safe favors
When Nexael helps you with tasks, it checks every request against a blocklist of harmful, illegal, and manipulative actions. Requests for impersonation, professional advice (medical, legal, financial), or anything that could cause harm are refused with an explanation.
